“Is It Just Me?” The Lonely Side Of Postpartum No One Prepared You For
Postpartum is supposed to be this magical blur of baby snuggles and sleepy smiles.
That’s the picture we’re sold, anyway.
What most moms don’t talk about is the part where you’re sitting on the couch at 2 p.m., still in the same clothes as yesterday, staring at a sink full of dishes and wondering, “Is it just me? Why does this feel so hard?”
The loneliness no one warns you about
You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone in postpartum.
Partners, family, friends, even other moms might be around you…and yet:
No one is inside your body, feeling the hormonal rollercoaster
No one is inside your head, hearing the doubts and questions
No one is living your exact day, over and over again
You might think:
“Why am I not handling this better?”
“Other moms seem fine. What’s wrong with me?”
“Is this just how it is now?”
Those are the quiet questions that make postpartum so isolating.
“Is this normal… or am I broken?”
Maybe you’ve googled your symptoms more than you’d like to admit.
Crying spells.
Rage that comes out of nowhere.
Anxiety that tightens your chest.
Guilt for not loving every moment.
Most moms I talk to have some version of this thought:
“If I tell the truth about how I feel, people will think I’m ungrateful or a bad mom.”
So they smile. They say, “We’re fine, just tired.”
And inside, they’re carrying the weight of everything alone.
You are not broken. You’re in a massive transition almost no one prepares you for.
What you actually need
When postpartum feels heavy and confusing, you don’t need:
Another perfect morning routine
A color‑coded planner
Ten steps to “get your life together”
You need:
A place to say, “This is what’s really going on”
Other moms who nod and say, “Me too”
Gentle, practical support that fits into real life, not a fantasy version of it
You need to know, deep in your bones, that it is not just you.
A different kind of space for postpartum moms
That’s why I created Mama Outspoken Village.
It’s a community, podcast, and set of resources for moms in their postpartum season who want:
To feel heard without judgment
To know they’re not the only one struggling
To have simple, real support in the middle of real life
Inside the Village, you’ll find:
Community: a safe space to share what’s really going on
Conversation: the Mama Outspoken podcast, where the hard parts are spoken out loud
Support: small, doable steps and reflections to help you feel a little lighter, one day at a time
You don’t have to do this alone
If you’ve been asking, “Is it just me?” over and over in your head, this is your reminder:
No. It isn’t.
There are so many moms quietly feeling the same way, waiting for someone to say the real thing first.
If you’re craving that kind of honest, gentle support, I’d love to welcome you into the Mama Outspoken Village.
